Aviation education
What is flight training?
Flight training combines ground school (theory and exams) with flight hours (hands-on flying with an instructor). Most students start with a Private Pilot License (PPL), then progress toward Commercial Pilot License (CPL) and Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) for airline careers.
Ground school vs flight hours
Ground school covers regulations, weather, navigation, performance, and procedures. Flight hours build stick-and-rudder skills in the aircraft. Online ground school lets you study theory on your schedule while you arrange flying locally.
Typical training path
- PPL — private flying and first license milestone (~40 flight hours, multiple theory exams).
- CPL — commercial operations (~200 flight hours, additional exams).
- ATPL — airline transport (typically 1,500+ flight hours and extensive exams).
